Seriously, anyone who likes Sherlock/John needs to go read this series. It has possibly just become my favourite series in fandom now. Linpatootie has such a fabulous writing style, and her Sherlock and John voices are just pure brilliance.

I just went through the fic again, trying to find a quote to show you how wonderful her voices are, but AUGH all of them will spoil it in some small way, and god damn you should not be spoilt for the wonder of this fic. Just go read it, I promise you wont regret it.

Ugh now I’m envisioning a Sherlock/Graveyard Book crossover. IT WOULD BE PERFECT. John would wander around asking all the ghosts if they’ve seen Sherlock. Someone needs to write this.

I want to believe this. But I suspect it’s the same as the ‘John blinked SOS in the pool scene of The Great Game’. Sounds amazing, but not true. SIGH.

I loved this scene how it started with John leading and Sherlock following him all sad and lost and desperate. 

It’s kind of sweet and sad that Sherlock is using all the same compliments that John has said to him before. Like he had no other references for what a good compliment is, because he’d never really been given any before John turned up. And in his head he’s just going “I was happy to be told these things. I will make John happy by telling him the same things also.” And then he tried to think of his own little compliment and it comes out as a sort of insult. Even though coming from Sherlock it’s actually the biggest praise ever, because he’s saying “You make me more intelligent.” And being clever is his most important thing.

If you’ve not read this yet, GO. Go now. You have no idea the sheer amount of FUN you are missing out on. Okay, I know, doesn’t sound like it would work, does it?! But ;asjhf;kjh;jhas;kjhas IT DOES. And it’s in character. I DON’T KNOW HOW RAYONEA DOES IT. But it’s gorgeous and funny and sweet and cute and really quite hot (THE LATEST CHAPTER. OH GOD.)

Really, it’s just a bloody marvellous ball. An absolute hoot, as those over a certain age would say.

Mark: It’s a great scene, this. It got a round of applause yesterday, didn’t it?
Lara: Yes, it did.
Benedict: Rightfully so, it’s a beautifully played and stunningly written scene. You get everything of John’s love, man love, not any other kind of love. (laughs)

Benedict: It just says everything about their relationship. It says what the bond is, what the care is, and it’s everything they don’t say to each other, but he’s allowed to say thinking that [Sherlock’s] not there. That’s why this is an incredibly romancing and British affair. There’s an awful lot of beautifully understated subtlety and nuances.

I’ve just been re-watching this, and I realised that John’s background is one blank wall - he has no pretenses, he doesn’t hide his emotions. Irene’s background is a huge switchboard - thus alluring to her desire to control and manipulate.
